Kernstown UMC takes mission work seriously like most churches and this is never a challenge as all congregational members are considered missionaries. Mission work at Kernstown is concentrated locally, regionally, stately, and worldly. Kernstown is actively participating in such global missions such as Friends of Barnabas and the 30 Hour Famine to participating locally in such mission projects as the Jubilee Soup Kitchen, Habitat for Humanity, and the Laurel Center for Abused Women. Missions are a driving force to the character that makes up Kernstown UMC and in that drive we would like to welcome you to mission!
Below are some links to the various mission opportunities Kernstown is actively participating in…

During summer and fall we are invited to participate in the Society of St. Andrew’s Gleaning Network. Volunteers go to local orchards and farms to pick fruit and vegetables that would otherwise not be used. The food is taken to Lord Fairfax Food Bank for distribution.Â
The mountains of central Honduras are one of the most beautiful places on the entire earth. Sadly, they are also one of its poorest places. The Friends of Barnabas Foundation sends a team of American medical professionals and laypeople to the mountains every month to take needed medicines and hope to families living in poverty. With their simple work, lives are being saved every day. For more information on the Friends of Barnabas and their work in Honduras and in the US please visit their website www.fobf.org
Kernstown UMC supports FOBF through giving as well as sending members with the mountain medical teams.Â

The United Methodist Men is an organization of the United Methodist Church comprised of men who are committed to Jesus Christ and His works. We strive for a closer relationship with Him so that we may reflect His purpose in our lives. To be a member of the UMM, you do not have to be a member of the Methodist church, but must only possess a desire to help others and grow in the Christian faith. We meet every third Sunday of the month at 7:45 am for breakfast and fellowship. We organize and plan our fund-raisers, primarily the Ham/Oyster dinners. The proceeds provide support for some of our church's needs as well as helping to support the Heart Havens Project. Mike Michael is the UM Men's President. We welcome all newcomers.
There is a grocery cart located in the narthex waiting to be filled with groceries for C-CAP. The Kernstown UMC Hope Fund is a vital mission ministry that supports the local agencies and church members. Monetary donations may be left on the altar as you come for communion. Please bring your gifts the 1st Sunday of the month. Thank you!
Ideas for helping others are discussed by the Send and Serve team and plans are made that help our church become a vehicle for compassion and justice in the world. Team leader is Kathy Hopson.
